After a BSc in Chemical Engineering (Thessaloniki, Greece- 1994), an MBA (Cardiff-1995) and a PhD (Bradford -1998), he joined Imperial College in London (September 1998) as a lecturer in Entrepreneurship. During 6 years at Imperial, he has taught and published many papers in Innovation and Entrepreneurship in addition to having actively participated in the start-up of Imperial’s Entrepreneurship Centre. Research Centre co-ordinator, he supervised PhD students and advised venture teams for Imperial’s annual business plan competition.
In 2003 he started his experience with Cass Business School, City University in London. In January 2004 he became a Senior Lecturer in Entrepreneurship and Innovation, continuing to publish in top international journals, such as Harvard Business Review, European Management Journal and many others. Indicating his contribution to school’s student community, Souitaris received three prestigious awards for teaching excellence, such as Cass award twice (in 2004 and 2010) and City University award in 2006. This recognized excellence in teaching, allowed Souitaris to be promoted to a Professor of Entrepreneurship in November 2006. At age 34, he was the youngest Professor in the Business school and the youngest Professor of Entrepreneurship in the UK.
During 2008-2009 he has been Visiting Scholar, first at University of Bologna (January to June 2008), and then at The Wharton School University of Pennsylvania (August 2008 to May 2009).
In 2011, he was recognized as one of the top 40 business professors under 40 from the influential online magazine Poets and Quants.
He attends the Academy of Management Conference and the Babson conference annually, and occasionally attends the Strategic Management Society conference.
